So once a colony starts to RTN (or STN depending on how you look at it) should you start cutting it up & try to save the parts that aren't affected? Or hope for the best?

This purple orchid colony (11' x 9") had a couple of branches die off Wednesday night, I cut them off yesterday far enough up the coral that I got living tissue. Well thanks to Hurricane Laura we lost power yesterday for 7 hours. I come back today and it looks like I'm losing more to STN.

Should I chop it up at this point and try to save what I can?

That’s what has worked for me through the years. Make sure to dip all pieces after you cut because it’s very possible there’s something going you’re not aware of.
