stick has been in my tank over a year. I don't dose, i don't test my levels. Corals grow well, nice colors... All of a sudden the middle looks to be dying... Base is entrusting , tips grow with extension. I guess it will be hard to answer the question without knowing my levels but just looking at the picture does anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes a fluctuation in your alkalinity will cause this.

either another coral stung it or some fish/critter was picking on it.

It looks a little to tan/sickly? Appears to be the shaded part

looks bleached to me, there is still PE...if it was RTN then there would be just skeleton and no PE

Define "all of a sudden?" Did this happen overnight or has it been like this for some time now? Are there any other corals nearby? (polyps aside) What kind of fish do you have in the tank?

The picture makes it looked bleached but it's not... Just a terrible cell pic. Was worried about the brown parts

Cloak... Maybe a week or two... Only other corals are a zoa colony near by... I'm going to do a few 5 gallon changes over the weekend and see what happens

Eventually you will need to dose, corals consume calcium and alkalinity and eventually theses elements need to be replaced or your corals will suffer. Water changes can replenish some nutrients, but as your corals grow, they will consume more than water changes alone can provide.

Here's a pic of one of my colonies that's dying. Can't figure out this sps... Good on day dead the next with no substantial fluctuations.
