Has anyone experienced an RTNing acropora begin to encrust again after moving it into another system?

I run multiple tanks and as a measure to "QT" the RTNing acropora, I placed it into my anemone tank on a frag rack after fragging it above the RTNand supergluing the original colony above the RTN line. It literally stopped RTNing and begun to re-encrust after a week.

Both tanks have the same lights, same parameters and equivalent flow.

Salinity: 1.026
Ca: 410
Alk: 8.5-9.0
MG: 1300
Nitrates: 0
Phosphates: 0
I run GFO and GAC

All using Elos test kits. Trying to see whether or not BTAs have some magical healing property or I just got lucky with the change in tankmates.

could be something in the DT is irritating it and causing tissue damage, and when that element is missing in the Qt, the coral has a chance to bounce back. Also, unless ur qt is the same size as the dt, your flow pattern in it might be different (current bouncing back from glass panels).

The most obvious reason would be if your acro colony is growing and getting bigger, and the top portion can very well prevent light from reaching the bottom portion (think a tree and it's trunk near the ground) hence causing tissue death/bleach in the bottom. I know this is probably not the case but just throwing it out there.

I guess you are right. I just assumed that since I have gyres in both tanks that the flow should be similar despite the differing size. I'm not sure if its light related since I'm running 3 Hydra52s and 4 supplemental T-5s (they cover both tanks) to clear up some of the shadowing and the base wasn't shadowed out since it was still a smaller colony ~5"

I just never have seen an acro recover from RTN. I've always just watch them slough off tissue within a week. I guess I'll get the flashlight out this weekend and stay up late and check if there are any corals in the tank that throw long sweepers or pests that I may have missed.

Thanks for the insight.
