I have a mat of GSP I'd like it to grow on a little rock island but the mat has no anchor just flesh. Is it safe if I use a rubber band on the middle to give it some nice contact with the flat rock I want it on?

I did the rubber band and it worked perfectly. I left it on for about three weeks if memory serves
If I can avoid rubber banding it Id like to by just let it sit on the rock on lower flow not sure if it will attach any time soon that way though.

Did you find any stress from the band?

Both methods will work. Gluing GSP was super easy and no slime on the back mat.
Thank you very much Ill have to give it a go. Any superglue is fine? There was a whole debate back in 2007-2010 if anything but pure cyanoacrilate was acceptable in a reef

Your welcome. It was glued too the overflow. Only have used frag glue, I believe it was called bsi-gel. I've read posts where members like gorilla glue super glue.

If your'e going to try gluing, may I suggest ( Gel ) super glue it sets a lot faster than a liquid type. Also I'd do the rubber band thing first . Worked fine for me !
