Going to RAP and thinking about setting up some rock rubble pieces with some algae rubberbanded to them so the tank sitter could drop one in every day for the tangs.

They would not be able to use the algae clip for various reasons.

Thoughts?

I rubber band algae to a
Conveniently shaped piece of rubble in my QT tank. Unless it came off of something oily or contaminated, I would assume it would be chemically inert.

Only concern would be off too much was attached, eventually the excess food might be a water quality issue.

Zip ties and rubber bands are both good options. Don't recommend leaving either in for an extended period of time but would do fine for your situation.

Holds the algae in place much better than a clip. I picked up a pack of extra pouches. I load the algae into the pouches every weekend and then just change them out every morning before work. Makes feeding algae sheets so much easier!

I will never be without them again if I own Tangs. Feeding is so easy! And no more big chunks of algae floating around. The fish even seem to prefer it since it is closer to their natural picking method.

A very wonderfull idea, and exactly what ive done in the past with a tank sitter. Rubber band the amount of your likeing, and kept in a ziplock bag

How is the inside magnet? Same as their clip?

I'm not familiar with that clip so I don't know how to answer that question.

It does seem well constructed. The inside magnet has a "button" molded onto it. You push the extension through the algae sheet and there is button head that holds it in place. I can literally change out mesh bags in 2 minutes or less.

I do with frozen food as well.

Portion out in 1oz plastic souffle cups, pop back in freezer.

Put the innovative marine gadget on to thaw for the sitter.

The problem I had was sticking the sheets in the sleeve. The sleeves I got ripped at the seam. But that could have been from me trying wedge the nori sheets in.

Nope, no exposed metal parts so there really isn't anything to rust.

I frequently rubber band Nori to rubble and find that it works to not only feed my tang but to also feed crabs. The only problem that I have encountered was that the band comes loose and you end up trying to fish (no pun intended) it out of the most inaccessible spot in your tank.

I've been using them for 4 months and only have had one bag get damaged. Even then, it is still usable.

You can get plastic zip ties that are reusable, I have some black ones I've used. They have a little latch that you can press to reopen them. Got a back of around 100 on Amazon for about 10 bucks.
