My wife accidentally spilled laundry detergent in my 30 gallon Rubbermaid trash can that i use to mix saltwater. My question is should I just go buy a new one? , or how confident should I be that I can wash it out completely including my pump and heater. I feel like the heater and pump will be ok but not sure if all of it will come out of trash can

Rinse it well - using small amounts of liquid - multiple times . How much detergent spilled in it - of course there is no way to 'know' if its gone - its a cheap thing - maybe just buy a new one?

It should rinse out. Use some bleach water after rinsing all the soap out and let dry.

The primary ingredients of laundry detergent are
Chelating agents
Surfacants
Bleach of some kind not necessarily, house hold bleach
Which together should eventually rinse out without penetrating the plastic.
a smaller portion will be others, i would use smell as your guide when rinsing is done. As fragrances only make up a small portion of the make up. When there are no bubbles and you dont smell tide or gain, should be fine.
Using a hard sponge should help with agitating the surfacants so they come out faster.

This, depending on how much it costs to replace it might just be worth it to get a new one and not take the risk.
