I have used the same Rubbermaid Roughneck 32 gallon can on wheels for over 20 years now and it has been great. Not as heavy duty as the Brute but has served me well.
I have a good friend who owned a plastics manufacturing facility and did contract work for many vendors such as Rubbermaid, Sterilite, Tupperware, Heil and many others. What was surprising was many of the things we use all were made out of the same plastic beads and compounds. The difference is Rubbermaid spent many thousands of $$ and years of time to have the Brutes tested and certified by the ANSI/NSF as food safe since it is commonly used in restaurants and food manufacturing facilities while they didn't for the Roughneck line since they are more homeowner oriented at lower cost. Same materials just one carries the label the other doesn't but is still fine for our uses. Why would the yinvest all that money for something it was never intended for and have to pass the cost on to the homeowner thats going to place his trash or yard clippings in it?
