I have a ruby red dragonet in QT.. he is pretty small.. and not taking to my live blood worms or frozen cyclops. He has been in QT 5 days.. I am thinking of dropping him in my DT that is over run with pods? I also have a flasher wrasse in QT who looks fantastic.

Are ruby red not likely to have ich like mandarins?

flake food? I will try anything... I thought for sure the live blood worms would work. My mandarin loves them? I am also trying to hatch baby brine shrimp but I am on 40 hours now and not a single shrimp has hatched... argh

Neptune.

mine will eat frozen as well but it has to be moving pretty slow. I have been told blood worms too, mine has never been interested in them.

I got mine from ORA. They will eat anything.

I've been thinking of adding one to my tank. Are they jumpers? I don't have a top.

Try baby brine shrimp. I have a mandarin in QT and she eats them.

yes they can jump, all fish are jumpers in tanks
All ice is water, but all water isn't ice :)

Can all fish jump, sure. Will all fish jump, no. Some fish are very well known jumpers, like wrasses. Some are unlikely to jump, like damsels. My question is specific to this fish.

They'll eat decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. Get some off ebay for emergency purposes or PM me and I'll send ya some.
You can drop some in the tank in the morning and evening, that will satisfy them and they'll get fat. Mine used to breed every night, 1 male and 2 females, every, single, night like clockwork.
They would trade off with the male.. lol

You often see people who have " non jumpers" who for some quirk have decided to jump. As such i recommend all fish be treated as jump prone.

As for Ruby Reds, yes they can jump if startled. I recently lost one I was trying to pair up when it managed to JUMP through the screen netting.
