So I thought this was too cool not to share for everyone! Here is a video I took of what I think to be my Ruby Red Scooters trying to breed. They have been doing this dance every night for the last 3-4 days just before the lights go out.

Since I have never bred saltwater fish I was curious if any experts might know what to look out for? Any advice on what to do? I am guessing the breeding has to be similar to a mandarin or red scooter. I am not sure how much information is out there since I know this fish was just brought into the trade about a year ago. Maybe the first video of them trying to breed in captivity? That would be cool. :D

Either way I hope the community enjoys the video!

Looks almost exactly like the mandarin spawning dance I saw. Maybe a bit more experimental, but it's rather a young couple, I think. :)

Dude...CB rubies...wouldn't that be awesome?!

Are they definitely M/F? Juveniles will perform this dance as well in order to establish dominance.

Scooters/mandarins are easy to tell apart. The male hase a much longer dorsal fin compared to the female.

Also grats on the pair, hopefully they breed for you. That would be pretty awesome.

I know how to sex them. Am wondering if the OP does ;)

Of course I do! :D I picked them out exactly like pairing red scooter blennies. The male has the tall stripped fin and the females have a small half circle fin. There are actually two pairs in my tank as I was hoping one of them would decide to breed. The other two are a little smaller and younger. They are the coolest to watch them all scoot and hunt all over the tank.

Also thanks for all the comments everyone! :) Is there anything I should be looking for as they breed? Should it be the same if I looked up breeding red scooter blennies?

It peeves me to hear them called blennies...they're dragonets...but yeah, probably.

Yes I am aware they are technically dragonets. I use the names interchangeably even if it may not be correct. They appear on lists as gobies and blennies when you order them from a wholesaler so that is the first thing that pops into my head when I write.
