I'm thinking about investing in some Ruby Red Xenia instead of its more common counter part. I've heard that it grows at a slower rate and doesn't have the same "take over everything" qualities. However, full disclosure, this is all thread lurking based. I have never owned the regular kind either. I've never purchased anything from an online vendor. But due to how uncommon it seems, this might make me have to give that a try in order to get my hands on some.

Does anyone have any experience with this version of Red Xenia? Any Pros or cons worth sharing? pictures?

Thank you!

I got mine for a similar reason. Got to say that I love it. Doesn't grow quite as fast as regular xenia because it doesn't break off and start propagating everywhere.
Thanks for input! Can share a picture of yours? Did you purchase from an online vender?

I love mine. Got it locally. It’s one of my favorite corals. Nice color and flow. It doesn’t take over like the other xenia

THAT is stunning! How long have you had it? (just curious how fast it grows)
Also, I see a little baby at the bottom, if you are interested in selling :::wink wink::::

This is it October 2020. And now I have the one in the picture and one like 1/3 that size from this frag. If you were in ny I would sell a frag but I’ve never shipped before

Ive never had anything shipped to me but phyto, so I'm no use in that department either. I've seen a lot of reefers in New York. You are super lucky there!

perfect thread! i was wondering the same.
so for those of you that have the corals it does not break off and spread?
how do you frag it when it need some trimming?
I am planning a very special softie dom. tank and this corals is on the list.

correct me if I am wrong, but is that not the Giant Bali Xenia and not the rubby red variant?

I have had mine for about a year and a half now and it has never let go of frags. The way it spreads in my tank is if one of the stems is touching the rocks long enough it will attach but I have only seen this happen 1 or 2 times in a year and a half. To frag. Just cut one of the stems off
