Can I run two older nanobox Tides on a single storm controller? Each light has 2 channels and the capacity is 6 channels for the storm. Looking at maybe getting nanobox tide v2. Starting with one and then adding a second light once I find another used unit at a good price. I know 1 fixture is a little small for my RSM 130 but if I add a second I should good right? Few low light corals with stock PC lighting. I have no Controller or LEDs now. Thanks for any help.

It could definitely work as long as you're handy at connecting the appropriate wires. I think the real challenge will be finding another V2 tide so that you have matching color lights. The two tides should be more than appropriate over your RSM 130 as Dave of Nanobox uses 2 arrays for the Large Retro that he sells for the RSM130.

Shameless plug - I'm breaking down my Biocube 29 and upgrading, so I will have a large retro kit available with V3 arrays, moonlight control, 4 channel V3 control and fan control along with Bluefish Mini controller if you want to keep your stock good.

do you still need to run the stock hood's fans in addition to the retrofit light fan?

I put in retrofit 60mm Stealth fans with one pulling in, the other pulling out. Much quieter than the stock hood fans. But mind you I have an Oceanic Biocube without the vent slits in the middle. With the Coralife biocube, I think you'd be fine with just the Nanobox cooling fan.

Sorry, totally spaced that you have an RSM 130. Not being familiar with the hood layout, I would think that it couldn't hurt to also run the stock hood fans in addition to the Large Retro.

With the 130 there are no to vents. Each side has a grill. Right side has 2 side by side fans which suck sir from the left side grate. No top vents are nice because you do not get wet dripping into the hood when accessing the rear chamber top flap. But the down side is it may not help with the upward facing nanobox fan. I assume his fans are quiet, do they have automatic speed controll/activation? How long have you had the nanobox installed?

I got the option where fan speed is controlled by the Bluefish Mini. Actually the fan blows in a downward direction to push air across the fins of the heatsink. Everything is a little over a year old. I also have 2 spare brand new unused V3 arrays as backup for extra.
