I have two UV sterilizers for my upcoming tank, a 25 watt AquaUV and a 57 watt AquaUV. I bought the 25 but I’ve gotten feedback that I need a bigger one for my 126G display tank, so now I have both unless I can sell my 25 watt.

but I was thinking: should I run both? I would use different flow rates for each, so I can cover potential ich, certain dinoflagellates, and algae (water clarity).

I think dinos/ich need slower flow, algae needs higher?

Does anyone do this?

I run a 55W aqua medic and 18w in a Teco cooler/heater/UV on my 220G and I find it effective in controlling what I purchased it for. Ick is less damaging, algae is well controlled, no complaints from the livestock. Perhaps there is a point where too much is too much but that certainly is not it.

It won't hurt but I am not sure it will help much either....the smaller UV won't be able to keep up due to the size of the tank. But, again......I guess anything it does do is better than nothing lol.

The 25 watt will easily handle the clarity you are looking for, then slow the flow through the 57 watt for parasite

The 25 watt says it's rated just fine for my water volume, but I believe that's for algae/water clarity. The larger 57watt would have lower flow to work on any ich/dino.

Yeah run two, one higher around 800gph for algae if I recall it was and like 240gph for sterilizing the parasites.

Personally I'd sell it. My tank is about 5 years old now and have never found a need for one.
