runaway snails

I am finally finished with my nitrogen cycle and I did a complete water change I bought a clean up crew,,and acclimated them last night now every one of the snails are hanging out at the top of the aquarium right at the waterline,,,and a few are even outside of the water,,,all of my parameters are good does anybody have an idea why they are doing this thank you

It's normal. Mine do that too.

I've wondered about what causes this as well. They seem to pick a favorite corner near the water line to congregate at. What I have noticed is that Cerith snails do this same thing in the wild. They group together in huge colony formations on the top surface of rocks, or whatever else is projecting up in the water.

What kind of snails did you get? Nerite snails are notorious for having to be picked up off the floor in the morning.

They will eventually learn the tank parameters. They can survive out of the water a long time. Don't throw them away, just put them back in your tank...they should be fine. I freaked out the first time I got some...lol
