I believe this is where I should post this thread. If not, I apologize.

I want to run carbon in my tank in an efficient way but also would like it to be relatively inexpensive. I've had the tank for two months and so far I've just put carbon in a media bag and put it in the rear sump in the most high flow area of the tank (suggested by BRS). Does anyone know how effective this method is? Should I continue with this until I have enough money for a carbon reactor? Are these my only two options?

If anyone has used my current method and found that it doesn't actually do much and I can go without then I'll stop. It's only a few bucks every couple of weeks so its not a big deal to do it but if it has minimal impact then why bother, right?

Most of all I'd like suggestions, inexpensive methods of running carbon, that I could effectively use on my tank. Thank you!

Used to put a bag of Chemi pure on one of the chamber of IM 40 too and leave it there for I would say 1 1/2 month and did ok. Now I have the IM reactor with gfo and this method works better in my experience.

Eventually I was going to go with the IM reactor too

Do you think water flows through the bag? Can you place it in a way that water must flow through it?
Sort of. I placed it on top of one of the filter socks next to the overflow so there's water running through about half of it... Obviously not ideal but that is the place with the most water flow
