Running Carbon Without Power Filter

Hi all,

In my QT tank I am currently running two sponge filters for filtration. In the near future I will have to use copper to absorb meds. Do I need to put copper in a power filter that has flow running through it? Or can I put some in a bag and just drop it in the aquarium?

copper? you mean carbon right?
yes, it will absorb meds just sitting in the water, but it will be much more efficient when pumped through. even a cheap HOB filter with a bag of carbon in it will work much better.
