Currently running a reef octo ss 150 skimmer but its LOUD! Tried taking it apart, all completely fine but once back together its vibrating again so I'm at my wits end with it.

So if I was to only run the skimmer half of the day for example when im at work, will this be an issue?
I only have 5 small fish and few corals in 100G so not a big bio load plus my nitrates are normally always low.

I just cant stand the vibrating and not willing to spend another few hundred on a new skimmer

No reason you can't run the skimmer part time as long as your nutrients don't get out of whack. Test it for a short period of time and see what the results are. If running for a shorter time works, then you're good to go. If not, or you decide to increase your bio load, you'll just need to keep a close eye on things and adjust accordingly.

My $.02 worth.

Yeah will give it a go and check my levels after a couple of days. I dont ever have to empty my skimmer cup that often to be honest plus now I'm running gfo reactor I have almost no algea.
Hopefully it all goes fine because i cant cope with it at the moment aha

Have no idea. Emailed reef octo and followed exactly what they said to do. Still vibrating and cant pinpoint where.
Everything is tight, clean and nothings broken

I have my skimmer on a timer and it turns off at nighttime (to reduce noise, though might end up upgrading into a new and quieter skimmer).

Dont have a YouTube account. It's basically just a loud vibration sound and it doesn't sound like it's coming from a specific part of the skimmer, just the whole thing.
I'm going to run it throughout the day whilst at work and turn it off in the evening

I would have to think that its the pump. YOu didn't see any snails or anything in the impeller?
