Bought two new Chromis shortly after setting up my 92 corner reef. One of them never grew and has looked anemic for a long time. He has vanished so guessing he kicked it. The other Chromis has doubled in size and looks really healthy. The runt never showed any signs of disease and seemed to eat what he could at meals. He was always anemic looking though and never grew.

Man that stinks. From my experience, chromis can be hit or miss when first introduced to the tank.

I had issues with my runts being sucked down the overflow. But after a few days, they would just disappear completely. No body, no ammonia spike, no nothing... complete CSI cold case type stuff.

Out of 7, I have 3 left. They all seem to be eating and feeding well and having a grand ole time together.

He sounds like he was doomed from the beginning. sometimes we just get a hold of some not so healthy fish, and I wonder sometimes if there is something internal going on that we will never see. It's kinda like getting a fish that goes to the gym everyday and eats healthy, and then getting a fish that likes fast food and smokes 2 packs a day. :)

My experience with Chromis is that you can start with two or twelve and in six months you will have two. They seem to want to cull each other out until only two are left and then they are happy.

My rule on chromis is as follows : (# of chromis you want)x 2(half will kill each other) x 1.25 ( mp10 victims )= the number of chromis to buy
