Looking to take preventative measures. I have some screws in my canopy. Would spraying it with rustoleum be sufficient enough to prevent rusting?

It would help. Silicone grease, lot's of marine HW treatment products out there. Can't guarantee anything though, but taking screw out, then coating it before reinstalling would be best bet. Depends how much spray/ventilation is inside your canopy. If well ventilated and very little spray/salt creep then just a surface coat of paint or water proofing would do just fine.
