Rusting metal stand..

Should I powder coat or Bed liner my stand? Or just get rid of the metal and build a wood stand?

I have a 180 that has been set up for about 3 years and the metal stand is really rusting. I painted the stand with a heavy coat of Rust-oleum paint, but it obviously was not enough. So I am taking down the tank, sand blasting the stand and either powder coating or using bed liner. What one do you think would stand up better?

Is it bad enough to take down the tank? I did the same and have some rusting after several years. My rust is costmedic and doesn't impact the structure. Even if you had aluminum its eventually going to give into the elements.

Powder coating would be preferable. If applied correctly, it will be more able to be more corrosion resistant and stay on the metal surface.

Truck bed liner may work as well and very well may hold up as good.

I would say powder coating it.

Also keeping the stand clean and dry. As regular maint you should wipe it all down with a damp cloth.
No paint or finish is 100% rustproof if you don't maintain it. even stainless corrodes if not looked after.

One of my big issues is my skimmer and return effervescent, so when I put the tank back together I will try to cover those the best I can.
I am also taking down the tank because I have Xenia and blue clove every where. So the fish and xenia/ blue clove free corals are going into quarantine and the rest is going to dry out. any live corals that can't be xenia free will go to someone else.
