Rusty bone cutter?

My coated bone cutter had some rust partly due to my laziness of cleaning it with water after each.

It has some rust. I am soaking it with vinegar and the coating had fade away so did some rust after brushing.

However, I can’t get all the rust out as some are “inside” of the part.

Question is, is it safe to use in the tank? I need to trim down one my acros tomorrow.

Meh, mine are so bad that I have to force them open and closed many times to work the rust out of them.... its fine, don't worry about it.

Rust from that will not hurt your tank at all.

It’ll be fine. Mine are about 50% rust and I use them at least on a weekly basis in a 20 gallon tank. I don’t run carbon or anything and have seen no I’ll effects from it, even on notoriously finicky corals.

Yeah me too, I was kinda annoyed when I found mine rusting

Use WD40 to remove rust if you use WD40 just make sure it’s clean before using it back in the aquarium

i just use rusted til the break get a new pair. I never clean any tools **** it.

They probably are, just 304 and not 316. Both will rust eventually, though.

Isn’t rust is a big no no in a reef tank? But seems like everybody here is ok with it. I cleaned mine today the best I could but I still can see rust juice coming out every time I am doing the cutting motion. Coming out of the connecting part. I only made two cuts so and did a water change afterward.
