Hello,

So during last night's maintenance I decided to switch out my razor blade on my scraper. When I opened the scraper up to remove the blade, the whole inside was rusted!

This can't be good to have rust leak into a tank, right?

I guess I should start thoroughly clean/dry my scrappers before they start oxidizing and rusting... Do you all do this?

I have 2 razor style scrapers, one on a stick and one with a magnet (which I leave in the back of the tank, but now reconsidering)

How do you maintain your maintenance (tank cleaning) equipment?

Thanks!
J.

First, don't leave scrabers in your tank. When finished scraping wash off with water and let dry.
Always check your equipment for rust when cleaning. Powerheads and pumps are known to rust.

+1 to what reefwiser said. I see a lot of pictures where people leave their scrapers in their tank. I always take it out and rinse with fresh water and then let it dry before putting it away.

Not that big of a deal really. I used to use single edge blades and dropped more than a few behind the rocks by accident. Never seemed to have any impact.

Thank you all for the response. I'll read through that question of the day.

Cheers!
