Been up and running for over a month! Nitrogen cycle has completed I added two clowns a black storm and black oscilarious well the black osc died and was replace by a slightly bigger phantom clown and they seem to be doing well.. tomorrow I’ll be adding two fire fish as it’s been a week since two fish were introduced and nitrites and ammonia are zero nitrate is 5 ppm. I’ll do a 5 gallon water change and add quarantined fire fish

Question for all of you , recently I have dropped about 300 on fish I am curious what your opinions are of me setting up a ten gallon quarantine to protect my investment. I already have a Powerhead a filter and a tank for it I just don’t wanna take the chance of somthing bad happening

Tank update after a couple weeks of life my femal and male clowns died all I have left is a Midas blenny and a cleaner shrimp water is looking good and I’v started treating water with kick ich just to be safe since there were some white spots on my small male clown

!!! Welcome to R2R Ryan !!! Nice looking setup. A 10g quarantine tank will be a good step to save your DT inhabitant from getting itch, velvet or any other disease.

I would HIGHLY suggest the quarantine. I would go so far as to say to remove your current blenny to QT as well, and allow your tank to run fallow for at least 6-weeks (to account for brook/velvet) or 76 days for ich. The supply chain is riddled with nasties here lately.

Lots of good tips on running QT over in the Fish Disease forum! Here’s a couple links to get you started:

Nice tank, and welcome to R2R!

Looks like ich, but many, many more dots (too many to count). Spots are also generally smaller, giving an almost dusty look in severe cases. Kills very quickly, whole tank wipe-outs in a matter of days. It sounds like you might have encountered that, or brook... which can present similarly in early stages. Sometimes they get to the gills and suffocate fish before the outward signs even fully materialize.

Here's a good reference on fish diseases:

Thank you , I am currently fishless for about 8 weeks I wanna make sure the parasite is dead before I introduce fish I set up a ten gallon quarantine it is cycling currently. Got a few frags today calcium is a bit high at 511 and alk is at about 8.9 10 ppm nitrate witch the zoas seem to love and zero ammonia and nitrite
