Ryans 60G Cube -- From Cycle to Reef

Excuse the terrible photo. Buying a camera when I'm back from vacation in a few weeks.
Had Family over a while back for a BBQ when the tank first went up. My Dad thought a tang would look awesome in it. so they next time they came over...he showed up with one. didn't have the heart to tell him any different. on the positive side, the wife LOVES it. so I'm pretty sure i just got my ticket to the future upgrade ;)

really hard to tell due to the quality of the photo. one of the shops close to me had these for 5$ per head. this one was a lot smaller than the others so he gave it to me for 20$ said it was "something" lightning. cant remember o_O
ended up having some sort of montipora on it also.

actually got some semi decent pics off the phone.
Also added a piece of the BRS reef saver rock to have places closer to the light available.

Picked up a very small Orange Ricordea for next to nothing. also picked up a cleaner shrimp, within a few hours he was already cleaning fish, tried to get video but couldnt get close enough to the tank with out scaring them.

Cheap and easy cooling lol.
Temporary while I'm on vacation. Works incredibly well actually.

Looking good! I have a soft spot for cube and square tanks.
thanks! yeah I saw one in person that I fell in love with. Then happened to find this set up for sale shortly after. Worked out great :)

So after comin back from vacation I noticed two of my corals not looking so well.
I waited an extra day to observe everything during the day and night. First thing I noticed when the lights went out, I have an insane pod population that sprung up out of no where. And I mean insane, just pulling water out of the column with a turkey baster I would pick up a couple hundred.

Next, when the torch retracted at night I noticed tons of tiny black bugs crawling all over it :(

Now, I looked over at some zoas and they looked very irritated (with lights on) with lights out I saw all kinds of pods crawling all over the place, thought maybe I had some bad ones. (They weren't, they were good)

After reading a bunch on the black bugs I decided to give the Bayer dip a try.

16 oz tank water with 0.7 ml of the Bayer.
Then two more 16 oz cups of tank water for rinsing.
15 minute soak and gentle flushing with the turkey baster.
Then to the first rinse cup for a minute or two. Then to the second and back into the tank.

I also went ahead and ran the zoa frag through the same process. Lucky me, I found me a nice little nudi and some babies. Along with some creoland Isopods.

Not sure how everyone feels about the Bayer dip. But the amount of funky things it flushed out amazed me. Side note, both these corals were previously dipped with the seachem reef dip when I first brought them home.

Here some pics of everything :)

The dark clusters in the pic are baby nudi's huddled together

Wow your tank is coming along nicely. Great catch on the nudis. They can be a real pita if you don't deal with them. Got to love that bayers.
thanks you!
yeah just came across monti eating nudi's as well

and removed a Gall Crab from a trachyphyllia. :)

Great video of the tank.

Better shot of it, unfortunately the quality goes to trash when it uploads :/
Need to buy a real camera

New bubble tip finally able to move in :)
Good shot of the clown too
