Ryan's Fluval Evo V build

Woah this is a pleasant surprise finding this, it looks amazing!

love these little tanks. just wish the Weigh and height were stitched. for a peninsula tanks 11" leaves little room for a scape.

yeah if I get one i'll would mod it out as well.
od question but can you show a pic of the back outside of the filter chamber plz :D
Here are the pics of the back chambers, the one side shows the intank media basket it runs filter floss top shelf, seachem pond matrix in middle shelf, and a bag with carbon and gfo on the bottom shelf. I run 1tbsp of brs gfo, and 1 tbsp of brs rox 0.8 carbon in the media bag. The other side shows the mj606 pump, the aqueon heater, and the spinstream nozzle. I drilled the stock hole out in the chamber wall to allow the spinstream to sit flush, then made the connection on the inside of the filter chamber. I also use a larger diameter elbow in place of the stock one to allow better water flow the stock elbow and nozzle is very restrictive.

Yeah basically the only thing stock is the tank and the lid lol, it has an upgraded return pump(mj606), im spin stream nozzle for random flow, the intank media rack, and the lights were switched out the marine orbic ic leds they are fully programmable sunset, sunrise, moonlights pretty awesome lights for the evo.

The lights you have fit in the stock hood/lid? Can you provide more details? Pics? Link to the lights?

The lights fit perfect over the stock hood I cut 2 small notches in the lid for the legs to rest on glass as you will see in the pics. I'll find a link to the lights in a few and post it too. They are full spectrum you can control the white, blue, red, and green channels.

there is a link to the lights, they are pretty awesome for this little tank, they even do weather and stuff which is pretty cool I may do a couple videos later today to show that off. They do rolling clouds and lightning and all that dont use it much but a pretty cool feature. I got the light on sale on chewy.com for like $85 bucks shipped which was a steal, but they normally around $135 I think depending on the website. They make a couple different versions the marine orbit pro and the marine orbit ic the ic are what I have and the newest and brightest version.

Oh. I'm a knucklehead and thought you had the Eve 13.5. I got exciting thinking you had upgraded lights that fit the Evo 13.5 hood/lid.

Yeah the 13.5 is a bit trickier on the lights with the hood, Im not sure Ive seen much that works well with it.

Yeah I filled the bottom hole with reef epoxy, with the media basket i didn't have to mess with the higher in between the chambers

Right on after seeing your build I'm thinking I might do this to mine

Here a couple videos of the weather settings on the lights pretty cool, I dont really use them much because I figure it will scare the goby. My camera doesnt like the lights switching colors for the effects so it looks a little funny in the video but you can get the idea. I have one of the rolling clouds and one of a lightning storm.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you have the spec v.
Do you have any issues with sand blowing around due to the upgraded pump? Or loss of flow with the spin stream? Would it be able to connect right up to the stock elbow with no mods?

I like how you basically made your own chemi pure elite. Prolly much cheaper that way.

Are you still doing weekly water changes?? I'm trying to accomplish monthly with my spec v I recently setup

Hey! I found this thread and am curious how you still feel about the light a few years in??? Seriously looking at making this upgrade for my EVO V, and your videos were super helpful!
