So i have been looking for a s.haddoni carpet for some time. i was tipped off today a local fish store has one in and it has the potential to be something awesome! The LFS doesnt really have a good rep for saltwater at least in my opinion so i wanted to reach out to my fell s.haddoni keepers and see is there anything that will give away that its a s.haddoni?? I dont trust their knowledge on what kind of carpet it really is so after work im going to check it and wanted to see what i need to look for to make sure its s.haddoni.

the guy at the store told me it was a saddle anemone but i want to confirm 100% its a s.haddoni.

Thanks for the help guys!!

Saw your PM --- figured I would answer here.

Not 100% sure to be honest. Did you get a chance to see the underside of the oral disc? If it is smooth, than I would feel good about it being an S. haddoni.
From those 2 pictures I am leaning towards it being an S. haddoni, but something about the tentacles is throwing me off -- always hard to tell when they are settling in.

Either way, it is a beaut.

Looking at it again, and looking at a picture of one that I picked up 5 days ago, the tentacles are bothering me (( not in a health way, but in an ID way )), might be a Gig the more I think about it.

It settling in, and the knowing about the underside should confirm the ID.

This is the one I just picked up --- granted it needs to adjust and re-gain some tentacle length, but can see what I mean,

And for a healthy one from my years ago,

it looked smooth when it was in the lfs tank. i mean it was seated to the glass it was half on the bottom half on the side. looked to be in good condition.

The last couple are looking more like an S. haddoni. What I am looking for (( and couldn't tell one way or another )) are the verrucae, on the underside of the oral disc -- little bumps, not fully visible on an S. haddoni.

that is a beautifully colored nem! I'm not familiar with carpets so can't help with the specific type but wanted to comment you got a very good deal.

He is a Haddoni. Better picuture for ID would be picture of the upper column near the oral plates. However the whitefoot alone make it very likely that he is a Haddoni. Very nice one at that.

ok so i realize if i crawl under my tank ill see his foot

does this pic help
