I'm in an early stage in this hobby compared to most of you. My obsession began when I read a how-to book on reefing about 15 years ago... back then, there was a huge emphasis on cycling with dead fish, frozen shrimp and filtering with live rock. I've recently finished my basement and, at the advice of members here, I have all the electric ran, cat5 switched in, access to plumbing, space for a 6'x2'x2' tank and space in a storage room behind the tank... Now, i gorge myself with how-to videos on YouTube and endlessly read posts on reef2reef of how to fix common beginner mistakes. I visit local-ish (sometimes hours away) fish stores and pester the owners and employees with pricing and questions i know the answers to. I constantly check the market place here and on Facebook hoping something sweet will pop up. Everytime I see something that would work for me or I get a deal worked out at a lfs or work out a deal on the Facebook market place, I get cold feet and lose faith in myself. I then go back to watching YouTube how-to videos and cruising marketplaces. I'll even watch local fish forums and clubs that I'm not a member of. I go back and forth from fowlr , aio, reef only, cubes micros sumps... I can't take the plunge and I don't have faith in myself. One of the main things holding me up is, I don't want to start adding life into my space until I have everything set up... and I mean everything... and that's overwhelming for me mentally and financially. I just love sitting infront of my little tetra tank, feeding & cleaning etc. I just can't make the jump to a reef but I want that love for my current tank to evolve into more.. thanks for reading

Start with a small AIO that's easy to look after and maintain - like a Fluval EVO 13.5. Once you're into the hobby and gain some more confidence you can always use it as a frag/quarantine/spare tank - or sell it (they're always sought after).
