Sabae anemone?

Is this a small sabae? Also, does it look healthy from the limited pics?

It looks healthy but IME they are very hard to acclimate but nice looking though

Very hard as in water quality or they just don't survive in captivity?

I was worried about the color and wether it could have bleached and someone died it pink.

It looks dyed to me. I wouldn't buy it.

Why do you say that? Is there something else that will give proof one way or the other? Exactly why I am asking before buying.

From the pictures (( and would need to see the underside/foot to be sure )), it looks like an H. malu and not an H. crispa --- one of the issues with common names.

Assuming it is an H. malu, that is a (( some what )) common color for them (( H. malus aren't super common )) and it looks pretty darn good.

They do stay on the smaller side, so could be an issue with larger clown(s), and tend to prefer the sandbed.

DANG IT! I couldn't see your lost five freakin minutes ago.

I went back and took another look, buying clown goby for daughters tank, and it is a nice tannish/brown under the purple tips all the way through the foot. Just finished a two hour acclimation and placed in the tank.

What are/were you looking for on the foot?

To see the color of it, and if there were any verrucae ( pimples if you will ), and if so, what they looked like. Just to help with the ID.

The verrucae would be all around the base or just up towards the tentacles? I remember a smooth looking base and foot.

Nothing on the foot, but on the underside of the oral disc.

Would be similar to this (( M. doreensis ))

What color was the foot -- if you remember.

I don't recall seeing anything like that on it. I looked at the foot for any coloring leading me to think of a dye job being done and didn't see any. Base itself was light brown to tan, I want to say the center of the foot was a brown, darker then the base.

Yep, an M. doreensis, like stated.

And yes, I was taking the picture in case was needed for the refund --- a death sentence for an M. doreensis.

Glad to report the sabae is still in the same spot and looks to have a closed mouth this morning. Lights off with just moon lights, so hard to tell.

I am in Pekin, about 20 minutes from Peoria. And it actually came from a smaller lfs, not the big giant AO.

Not sure I should say this, but 36 bucks. Not sure if that is good or bad.

For the color, it's definitely worth the risk vs. price. Nice snag. I should be so lucky up here near Chicago, lol
