Sabella's 450L mixed reef build thread

It's 48× 24 but after you take out the overflow rocks and what not..plus sump, the system has a 85g to 120g. Now your making me want to test sooner than I planned to see if I'm still on target at 400. Currently dosing 1ml of the two mentioned. The Salifert Potassium test is pretty easy as the directions say the color change is dramatic (turns baby blue)
Be carefull with the last titration, make sure you wipe the tip before using. This is why i dosed so much on accident

I will be getting a test kit or two and run some test and see where I'm at and start to keep a track on it and see if I see any difference. Hold on I may already be dosing it I don't remember if it's part of ball trace elements I will take a look later on as I do dose balling trace in my two part. Always forget about using balling [emoji851]

Nah its included with balling and esv. But if you got nasty algaes like i do or a fuge or zeo or anything that rapidly grows anything with a cell wall or a low k salt if you do water changes, you should dose lol

I'll get the test and we will go from there. 5g water change every Sunday and you know I love my @Esv bro I hear they where coming out with a trace to add to there two part but nothing yet.

Have you guys heard of Reef Grow? I'm going to try using it instead of EVS.

I use esv 2 part with the occasional dose of brs mag. I was thinking about going full fauna marin balling with regular IO saltmix, its what i used to use but at the time wasnt really into sps crazy. I had better results using that method then melting media. Ive ben going nuts the last 2 months a about changing 2part and salt. Well see though, after i switch out my bulbs ill be looking into aquaforest products

Ill have to look, but i kno for sure i remember seeing someone on youtube that loves using their salts/supplements and has a monster sps tank.

Never heard of it. I've been thinking of changing from brs 2part and go to esv I already have some esv there I'm wait for my brs supply's to finish then I will make up my mind. But when it comes to salt I don't think I will ever change from esv bro real talk.

Yea i thought the same thing, untill you get that 300 and have to use a bucket every 2 weeks! I dont know why im being cheap, ill prob windup switching back to esv anyway. For all the times i messed up measuring man, always testing every batch. I cant even keep count putting cups of salt in my waterchange tank as it is lol

Just found it will read up on it. But they pick the wrong coral to rep for them that monti cap grows faster than weeds.
Lol funny right, looks like just standard monti growth, but that danae/appleberry looks like it grew beastly

I just bought a bunch of Reef Grow products and plan to start using them as soon as my two part of ESV runs out. Hopefully it works out, fingers crossed.

What kindof program do they use balling? Or just 2 part

Another gem i got from darren(hell have frags at rap). Pretty sweet, its yellow with purple/red/green/orange dots on it

Dopeness. whats this called?

@Sabellafella got me onto testing/dosing potassium and I couldn't be happier with my coloration.

For me, I believe it's an incredibly important element that simply lacks information about it's importance in the reef tank. Yes I can say my blues are bright but it seems to effect more than just the blue pigment alone. For example, I have an RMF Diablo Milli which is pink with a green rim and I've noticed upon maintaining my Potassium above 400, currently 420, it has taken it's pink coloration to a whole new level. The coralites literally glow... I can't fully credit potassium for enhancing it's coloration alone but I do believe it has helped color it up along with other sticks in my tank.

As for montis... My rainbow monti was starting to look like the the various shades of fall... The polyps were greenish/off yellow transitioning to a rust orange and the base was a washed out bluish grey color. Upon dosing potassium, I observed the coloration of my rainbow monti change by the day. Within 4 days I saw a dull monti gain an incredible amount of color. I have never witnessed such a drastic coloration transition prior.

I could go on mentioning the different effects that I've observed but I personally think you should check your potassium level at some point if you're lacking coloration.
