I love pectina corals but this guy ate half my aqua sd rainbow monti colony, but thankfully after a iodine dip it wound up growing again lol

Love these...so hard to keep though. Wherr do you have yours placed in the tank?

Really? I guess your right, i had a nice purple/red pectinia in my nano for 2 years. Got to the size of a softball, and just up n died for no apparent reason whatsoever. Also they seem to recede when my lfs gets them in stock. This one i have is an aquacultured from gonzo, and its growing beautifully. Ive came across a whole lot of pectinias, they seem to like every type of lighting/intensity and flow. Just have to play around with placement. The pectinias i owned, both were in low/moderate lighting and flesh pushing flow.

Also what ive found very very VERY interesting. I forgot to set my home heat last night, so my room (that the tanks are in) dropped to 60°. My nano runs only on a heater and the pumps barely generate heat. I have an apex but left the outlet set to ON opposed to auto for who knows how long. Needless to say, the temp dropped from 79 to 76 (the biggest flucuation in my nanos lifetime) and ALL my yumas dropped 2-3 babys in 1 NIGHT. Ive had them all as rescues. Two of them are larger then a carpet anemone, even larger then a small dish. I never knew they got that large, for a year now it was a matter of time before they dropped babys BUT that time has never came up untill the temperature issue i had. Coincidence? Ive always heard that playing with temp can trigger spawning, and finally seen this phenomenon for myself. Ill post some photos this week, they look beatup as of now. Just thought i would share, very cool that all my yumas tore legs all over the course of just 1 night!

Pectinias are so awesome. The one you have is killer, congrats! I can keep any chalice and sps, but have never had luck with pectinias man, such a bummer.

They usually start great, then long term receed...my luck I guess. Great job with the tank

Thank you! Yea theres not much info on pectinia prefered water parameters but never give up man! Just take it slow!

this is such a horrible picture but the blue is finally coming in with the dark red polyps. when I first bought the frag, it was this blue (tiny growth tip)color with red polyps. hopefully soon it can look the original way it did

last for now, is the rr red diablo. something has ben eating this thing since I got it. Its not red bugs or an acro flatworm because w.e that's eating it, is eating it down to the CORE. literally, even the calcium carbonate. Only creature ive seen in the past months were brittle stars and amphipods.

Haha Not necessarily =). Id be dis owned and living on the street with my tanks lololol. Mostly through trading, in the beginning it was a little expensive. Also built an amazing relationship with local hobbiest, without them, id be stocked with lfs pieces.
