Sad day. YWG jumped to death.

Never thought I'd come home to find my YWG on the floor. Being that he barely leaves under his rock I'm really surprised. Tank inhabitants had been getting along well for the last month and a half. Just going to leave it at 3 fish in the system now despite the fact I could use the extra nutrients. Will add more fish again once I upgrade my system at the end of the year.

Anyone else have a surprise jumper that you didn't think you'd lose that way?

Really bummed because he was my favorite fish. Clowns are cool but they're jerks and bite me. My yellow watchman always was just chilling and waiting for me to mama bird him with the baster.

Lost a tiger goby a couple years ago with a covered top . The only place that had a sliver of a opening was where my lights clip on the tank but we’re talking sliver but yah he found it and I was bummed . Found him in the morning . Sorry for your loss .

Tension must have developed in the neighborhood for him to go to the surface like that. I had one for 3 weeks and the reef just wouldn't accept him and he started surface swimming so had to take him back to the LFS.

...Every time I see a tank full of clownfish and no lid. Yes, they jump... Like crazy.

Lost my diamond goby the same way. it managed to dislodge the plastic bit on the back of my glass lids somehow. Thought my take was very well secured...

Earlier this year my yellow watchman goby jumped too. My mesh lid wasn't sitting perfectly on my tank.. a gap in the corner about the size of him was present and that sucker found it. I really loved that fish- if he only knew the grass isn't always greener.

Really was my favorite. When I get a larger tank I definitely am getting another. For now 3 will suffice in here despite needing more nutrients.

Developed quickly because I hadn't even seen any tension in the tank. Everyone seemed to be getting along really well.

Gobies are actually on the frequent jumper list. There does not need to be aggression for a fish to decide to jump so there may not have been any.

I've had 2 bluespot jawfish go carpet surfing. The crazy thing is both did it with a lid on the tank. One found a small 3/4" opening next to the filter in my quarantine. The other one I had in my display for a good 6 months and found a 1" opening when I placed a fish trap in the tank overnight. Will definitely ruin your day.

My kole tang likes to harrass my tail spot blenny (similar color, so seen as a competitor I guess) and if I didn’t have a lid, the blenny would have been on the floor a long time ago.

Luckily mine wasn't a blue spot. I feel bad about losing any fish no matter the very, but pricey fish definitely hurt more.

I think the six line wrasse finally got to him despite a good amount of healthy interaction previously. Just feel bad for this fish.
