I woke up today to find several corals, my clams, and my mandarin dead. I am not sure what happened. I am kind of in shock as everyone was doing great. I have been having an issue with nitrates algae and a dead spot but was finally starting to get the upper hand so I thought. To loose my clam after only two years and mandarin after four is heartbreaking. I have water in prep for a water change but am not really sure where to go from here.

Nitrates are about 15.
Alk is 3.08
Ph 7.9
Calcium is 495
Salinity 1.025

It is possible. Many of my inhabitants spawn on a regular basis including snails, nems, and fish. It appears the largest clam is still alive but barely. I have never heard of one surviving after reaching the state he is in but I will leave him for a bit and hope. If the clean up crew start munching I know it will be time.

Oh man, sorry. Boy I hope you track down the cause. That would be heartbreaking.

Depends on what you are measuring it in. The 3.08 is meq/L which is about 8.6 on the dKH scale

Ironically I received new light bulbs for the tank tonight. I have them on auto order from brs. I will change them tomorrow and do another water change.

It was a temp spike. 90 degrees. My apex failed to warn me which is most likely a mistake i made in programing it. Until I sort out what I did wrong I have installed a digital temp display so it can be clearly seen at all times. I will be in the hospital next week and don't want another issue.
