Really Sad day for me. My favorite fish died today.
My skeletor eel. Its been with me for 6 months, happy, and eating a lot. My parameters are all where it should be. I just checked.
The only thing differente I have been doing for the last couple of days is that Im squirting peroxide on some rocks to kill the red hair algae. (Not cyano or red slime) I never used more than 20ml per day. Doing it Twice a week.
So I was doing just like you do with aiptasia x, but using peroxide. It works very well.
Everything is doing fine, Shrimps, snails, fish, corals, sea urchin..... would that be the reason She died? Are Eels sensitive to it? Thanks

aw. grim so sorry. Is it diluted peroxide?
i just dont think its a cure all. and in the wrong does likely very bad.

I would check more into this, eels are one of the toughest things in saltwater. They are insanely resistant. Could it be something else related to its health? Did you ever observe any strange behavior? Like stated, shrimps are very sensitive to water
Parameters, they would go before the eel, if anything. Sorry about the loss

Thats what I heard too! They are tough. Nothing strange. Same behavior as always. It just died..... Everything else looks healthy... my favorite fish in the tank. Everyday before bed I use to go check on Her... I re worked all my rocks and placed PVC under it for Her to have more places to stay. Some times this hobby sucks....

The last picture I took few days ago :(

Consider physiological issues/variances in fish just like humans...how many internal malfunctions do we hear people dying from having nothing to do other than genetics, tons.

No known reef fish are listed as peroxide sensitive only going off the big threads where everyone was pooling information. We have eel tanks in the big reefcentral peroxide thread no losses. Yes I'd expect the shrimp first

I will be the one to say H2O2 dosed even in full 3% is harmless, well unless something comes up to get a drink of it during the dose.
I think most fish loss is due to the inadequacy of proper diverse diet.

I fed Her twice a week, as much as She wanted to eat. Did this for 6 months.

Sorry for the loss, it is a sad day for me also during this time. Nothing like seeing a prized fish laying still on the bottom.
I learned this long ago with a prized lion fish I had. I had to get to the bottom of how this came to be. After much research into malnutrition I realized this fish could not survive off of silverside alone.
I was the cause not understanding that diversity plays a big role in in my fishes health. After about the same time frame I lost him.
This is where I suggested looking into "what" was being fed.
