My first saltwater fish died today. I set up a 20 gallon tank and I also have an 120 gallon tank that has not been set up yet. I set up the 20 gallon a while ago and I got an anthias (actually not sure what kind lol) He was the cutest and had the best personality. Today I went to go feed him his dinner and his eyes were clouded and he was actually swimming upside down. I have never seen a fish like that in my life. He was so miserable and the worst part was is that I did everything right and when I saw him like that I was so helpless and I couldn't do anything to help him :(

He was still trying though, he was still trying to swim and be the happy little fish he always was. Someone tell me if I'm being too crazy about this but he was my first saltwater fish and he meant a lot to me. I'm honestly starting to cry just writing this. He was a wonderful fish and God will take good care of him.

So sorry for your loss. You're not crazy at all. Its perfectly acceptable to get attached to something you've spend a good amount of time and effort on.

I am sorry for the loss. I look at my fish as pets and part of the family. It is easy to grow attach3d and I agree they do have personalities.

Don’t let it discourage you. There is nothing wrong with the way you feel. It shows character that you care.

I'm very sorry for your loss, everyone in this lifestyle will experience this but some will have no emotional response I personally hate the thought of ever losing one of our finned family members. They are just like our pups I will do everything I can to protect and provide.

sorry man, losing a fish sucks. i have a single female lyretail anthias and she has a ton of personality. i'd say she's easily my most inquisitive fish, whenever i'm staring at the tank she swims over and just looks at me, probably hoping i'll feed some more.
