Small cuc

3-4 weeks ago added a pair of clowns

Over the weekend added the following
Small colony of Rasta zoas
One ricordia Florida
One toadstool
One sirunalia (sp)

Would I be safe to add a couple small fish later this week?

Nitrate is a little high I'm assuming after my vacation but I'm doing a water change Thursday after I pick up water from the store, no ro unit yet, so should I add same day as water change or wait till the next day or two?

I'd do the water change and test again. A little nitrate won't hurt anybody, but any time you add livestock you're asking your biofilter to work a little harder. Having no idea where they're at now, I'd say knock them down to an acceptable range before adding anything else

Unfortunately no. I only have my dt. I want to some day but I really don't have space for anything else.
Recipe for disaster unfortunately....I would try to find a way to set up a QT (it doesnt have to be fancy...storage tub with a HOB and Airstone)....you risk losing all your fish at one time without it...

I assume it needs to cycle as well.

Maybe I'll find a used setup on Craigslist and and put it somewhere.

Petco $1 a gallon sale. I use their 20g for my qt. Heater, hob filter, cheap powerhead and or air stone, thermometer, ammonia alerts badge, and few pieces of pvc(I have a 4" T and a 4" 90). Take the sponge that comes with the hob filter and throw it in your dt a few weeks to seed the qt.

The sad part is I've sold 3 different 20 gallon tanks over the years.

You can post in your local forum to see if anyone has a setup you can borrow.
