red firefish
tomini tang
one spot foxface
striped blenny
carpenter's flasher wrasse
ornate leopard wrasse
aiptasia eating filefish
yellow canary wrasse

Why? I wouldn’t.

Tbh how are your nutrient levels and just over all peace in the tank? Do you have enough rockwork to support another fish.

Adding another wrasse or just fish in general is asking a lot as you already have a heavy bioload in this system.
This. Thats a lot of fish.
I have the same tank.

Sounds like a wise no then; don't want to deal with aggression, the tank is presently very peaceful.

I wouldn't say it's a heavy bio-load though; reef keepers tend to be overly conservative on their fishloads, imo.

Skimmer, socks, fuge, and no3/po4 are steadily at 5/.10; without any algae or other 'dirty water' issues.
Why? I wouldn’t.
...because I like them?

lots'o wrasses already, few lucky you have no aggression so far, seems like "a wrasse too far" but you might get away with it
lots of stress and set back if you don't

I would disagree with the others in it not being wise as you have a few fish already. I have a 4’x2’x18” tank and I have;
- Halichoeres chloropterus
- Halichoeres iridis
- Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
- Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
- Cirrhilabrus naokoae
- Paracheilinus Hybrid
- Siganus magnificus
- Ctenochaetus binotatus
- Amphiprion occelaris x A. percula
- Genicanthus spp. (Hybrid?)
- Chelmon rostratum
- Escenius lineatus
- Cryptocentrus cinctus

and potentially another I’m missing. But you get my point, I have the same amount of fish and arguably more with a heavier bioload. I’ve had no issues, yes our stocking is different however it’s similar in terms of bio load size. You could definitely add a Halichoeres melanurus. Just make sure to be cautious, I see no wrasse that stick out as aggressive personally so you shouldn’t be too bad. If you can get a female Melanurus then chances are higher that you’ll have success. If you’re in the south of the UK I know a store with a female in stock.

I think adding a Melanurus wrasse will be fine to this group of fish. Also consider adding a Radiant Wrasse first before the Melanurus. They are such beautiful wrasses, both of them.
