Safe to put into DT? I can't tell...

So my 2" Juvenile Kole Tang has been in QT for 6 weeks now...

Not sure about this white blotch...
I can't tell if this is just juvenile coloration, or something else? No eating issues. Has eaten everything I put in from day one. Flake, pellet, frozen and algae

could actually be a cyst, I had a banggai cardinal that had one on its side, grew up to half the size of the fish and then it died. So your fish could have cancer :/. I'm no expert though, pretty sure @Humblefish is pretty knowledgeable on fish health? I don't spend much time in the disease forum so I'm not sure.

Whatever it is good luck. One thing I know for sure is that you should continue quarantine, things like this are the reason why you do it in the first place. You'd defeat the point of quarantining it if you put it in the DT with something that could be disease.

Good advice.... leave it in QT until we know what that is. I'm hoping for Lymph but I want a clear closer pic to know for sure. I'd also like to know what meds he was treated with during QT.

Has she been displaying any other symptoms to go along with this? It looks like a mild infection, although they are usually secondary to something else like a parasite or injury.

Nothing that is obvious. Plenty of swimming, active...eating fine...

About a year ago I bought a few medications:
Melafix, Pimafix, Para-guard, Prazipro and Cupramine.
I have these on hand right now if I should try anything.

You might want to get an antibiotic just in case (kanaplex, furan 2 are good ones) but for now I would just feed high quality frozen and live foods if you can and lots of nori. Adding a vitamin supplement to all foods (selcon is a good example) is a great thing to do right now. Also, keep the water quality pristine. My advice is to do that and see if he can kick it on his own. If not, then start with an antibiotic like kanaplex.

^^ I agree. Vitamin supplements will probably boost the immune system enough to help clear this up. Also, since you already have it, the Melafix/Pimafix might help do the same. However, use real antibiotics next if this strategy doesn't work.

I WOULD NOT put this fish in the DT until he is completely healed. Take advantage of the fact that you already have him in QT, where you can safely administer meds.

Well I feel dumb....I checked the nitrates 3 weeks ago and they were 5ppm, Did a 25% water change 2 weeks ago, but never checked since. Looked right now and it was 80-100ppm.

Might explain it... I immediately did a 50% water change and I'll do another 50% tomorrow.

When would it be safe to transfer when visually I cannot see any further problems? Safe, or give it another few weeks?

Water quality has an effect, that's for sure. Keep it clean and follow the advice given above. Dont put him back until he's been at LEAST a week without symptoms AFTER meds and vitamins stop.

Nitrates have no impact on fish at those levels. Most corals wouldn't like it though.
