Safe to run Skimmer in Vinegar Solution?

I've seen running skimmers in vinegar solution increases production, is this true?

It's a good way to clean them.

The only reason the run a skimmer in viniger is to thoughly clean it. A clean skimmer usually increases production although cleaning in viniger is not really needed. I get more skimate after cleaning my cup and neck. Cleaning the Venturi can also help a lot as it can get salt built up in it. This can easily be done by sucking hot RO/DI water into the air line. Clean the needle wheel as it can get debris in it. The pump body and rotor benefit from cleaning in viniger every 6 months to remove Calcium build up. Cleaning the pump can be the diferance between it lasting 2 years and it lasting 10 years. If the rotor magnet is swollen or distorted it should be replaced before it destroys the pump body.

Anyone know if 2 hours is long enough for it to get a good clean?

It should be plenty of time in most cases. The only way to know is to inspect the parts.

Another way to clean a blocked venturi is with a drill bit turning between your fingers.

Should I run it in just plain ro water to get any excess vinegar through the system afterwards?

After running through vinegar bath and back in sump, skimmer is no longer overflowing, but still not pulling any skim.

Is vinegar safe on the rubber tubings?

It is safe on most aquarium tubing short term. I can not say about rubber.
