Safe to use artificial aquarium decoration?

I wanted to provide more hiding places for livestock without adding more live rock and found few artificial log looking decorations from my freshwater tank days. Are these safe/ok to use in a reef aquarium? ...Looks something like this.

They should be. Just make sure they can’t corrode like metal. If they are for freshwater or saltwater they both have the same coting that dose not react with the water and the plastics used are non toxic. I used a freshwater deco in my quarantine with no ill effect.

I would assume that its fine, but those are mainly used and for designed for fresh water. Why not buy some dead rock or LR, build a similar looking structure? You can buy deadrock for pretty cheap and at least using it would be beneficial to your system once its seeded. This would add almost no (or a very limited amount) of filtration abilities when compared to that of LR.

I agree with cc13. LR or DR will help filter the water and have no chance of causing harm. But if you really like the decor it will probably work fine.

I would have to assume that you would be fine to use it. They are made for fresh water but unless there are metal parts to it I would assume you will be fine.

Make your aquarium decorations safe by using safe materials such as: ceramic, plastic, glass, etc. Also, avoid placing wood, metal, stone, beach sand, etc., coins, seashells, corals, and anything that can be decomposed or consumed in the aquarium to keep your fish safe.
