Is there a safe way to have GSP so that it doesn’t risk taking over the tank? My new tank is going to have a sand bottom and I’d love to have a small bit of GSP. Can I host some safely either on an island or perhaps on one of the walls? I don’t want to risk it taking over the tank, but could start with it in an isolated area.
I’m already planning a Zoa/Paly island and a torch island.

You can put it on an island, yes. It can't spread well over sandbed, so you can easily trim it back.

Putting it on a wall is an option, but you'd need to figure out a way to cut it back once it starts heading towards where you don't want it.

Island or overflow is my choice. As everyone else said be aware when it takes off, it goes! That rock measures 6" +- across and about 4" deep. I pruned it as it was starting to grow on the sand
