Safety stop for blue-green chromis

Hello,

I want to buy a few chromis. I have read some of what @Humblefish had to say about uronema marinum, but I do not have a quarantine tank.


Would it be a bad idea to use safety stop?

Are the odds better with another species like black-axil chromis?

Should I just avoid chromis altogether for now?

If you can't do a proper QT, and treat with Chloroquine or Metronidazole, then I would avoid adding Chromis.

Black axil are just as susceptible to uronema. Even with a proper QT system and access to better medicine, like chloroquine phosphate, chromis sp. are a crapshot.

I didn’t realize Metronidazole was available without Rx. When I’m ready I’ll put together a quarantine tank and give it a shot.

FWIW; I've been moving batches of chromis thru QT with ease by dosing Chloroquine @ 40mg/gal from Day 1.

You have the touch. My wife likes the black axils - only fish she has expressed an interest in. We have one that came accidently with a group of blue/greens and she wanted more. They are so hard to find. LA had some and I've lost 3 of 5. . . doing the exact same thing with CP.

I trying to decide between: metro, NLS ick-shield, or eBay CP. Any advice?



Would it make sense to use tank dividers to eliminate the chance of aggression? Is aggression even an issue with juveniles?

I'd avoid eBay CP except as an absolutely last resort. Metro is the best of the options.
