Hi All,
I don't like posting a negative review (never have), but more than one issue arose, so here's my 2 cents on this seller. @sag2 (Daniel) sold me a Curve 7 skimmer.
* He asked me to do PayPal Friends & Family to save him fees. When I politely stated that "Reef2Reef doesn't allow selling with the friends and family option (like, they revoke seller privileges if people ask)," he responded quoting my note and said "...is FALSE...I asked..." I then pointed him to the rules thread where that's specifically disallowed. A moderator later asked him who told him, and he said he doesn't recall... Note, I didn't really care about this issue on its own. But telling me it was "FALSE" rubbed me the wrong way. And only after the issue below occurred, I reported it to a moderator.
* The skimmer arrived well-packaged, but it was missing the drain hose and cap for the skimmer cup, so the skimmer is literally useless until I get a drain cap (unless i want to drain the skimmate back into my tank). I asked him if he had it / could send it. He replied that he couldn't find it and never used it. That wasn't helpful. So I just asked this: "Okay, well seeing it's missing a key part that will cost $11.50 to buy, can you please credit me back that amount?" He replied "No, you can go to any Home Depot/Lowes/Hardware store and buy a piece of hose and a plastic cap for about $3.00. Although, if you are that unhappy with your purchase I will gladly buy it back for what you paid for it?" I took that as an empty offer (why would I hassle with sending it back over this - and would he really refund my money and pay for me to ship it back? Doubtful). My cost with shipping is $11.50 from the only place I could find a drain cap.
Obviously not a large amount, but why should I have to pay for something that was supposed to come with the skimmer and is required? If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't hesitate to either buy the part for the buyer or refund the amount it would cost the buyer, because that's the right thing to do.
So beware. If you buy something from him and an important component is missing, you will get no help. Thanks,
