Hi all

....so I am on day 25 of fallow in my display. I got most of my fish through the copper phase of QT. I used the Focus/GC feeding while they were in Copper and maintained a 2.0 level at all times.

My banana wrasse was still scratching so I did a fresh water dip and transferred them all to a new Sterile QT. I did not see any flukes in the freshwater bath but decided to put them through the GC/Metro treatment. I got them through this and was now just observing while I wait fo the fallow period to end. My female flame wrasse appeared dead one morning. No prior signs of anything going on. Then I noticed my banana wrasse has large white blotches along its dorsum. My male flame has an area that looks irritated along his flank. My blue flasher suddenly died overnight.

I think this is bacterial and started a course of Nitrofuran and Kanaplex. Fish are still eating well. I'm going to finish the NF/Kanaplex dosing over the next 3 days then move them to a new sterile QT and observe. Here are some pictures.....any thoughts?

Sorry you're dealing with this. Can you walk us through the QT process?

- How many days of copper?
- How many days of GC/METRO? Also GC has metro, did you add additional metro meds?
- Could there have been any cross contamination?

I followed @HotRocks protocol with 14 days of copper while feeding the GC/Focus mixture he recommends. I then did the freshwater dip prior to moving them to a new sterile QT Tank, and used fresh Saltwater as a rinse during transfer. I used the GC/Metro protocol noted in the stickies:

Day 1 GC
Day3 Metro
Day 5 Metro
Day 7 GC

Thats it-
No possibility of cross contamination- they are in my basement and I sterilize my feeding pipette daily and it is only used on this QT tank.

This is either bacterial or Uronema related. I would recommend a full 14 days of the trifecta. Kanaplex, Metroplex, and Furan-2.

Keep in mind that copper is an immunosuppressant, so while it works great in erradicating parasites it's very hard on the fishes immune system. Therefore, post treatment a bacteria that would normally be fought off naturally may not be possible with the suppressed immune system.

Sometimes it's unavoidable.

Thanks @HotRocks

Furan-2 says to dose every 24 hours x 2, then do a water change and repeat the two doses over two days. Kanaplex is an every other day med. How do you incorporate all three for 14 days?

Metro and Kanaplex every other day? but what about the furan-2?

Thanks again
