Got home today to find that my sailfin is missing a chunk of its head/brain. It's still swimming around fine but acting weird by twitching a lot. Not eating at the moment but don't know what to think of it. The only thing in the tank that could have done harm to him is a crab about the size of a half dollar. I really find it hard to believe that the crab would do that. I don't know what i should do next. Any inputs?

Well holy moly! That looks like a bad injury. He wasn't like this yesterday? Any other tangs in the tank or anybody who might have been chasing him around the rocks?

It defenitely happened today, and no not that i've seen but it's possible. The wound is deep hopefully he can recover.

That's all "flesh" missing; the brain is inside the skull.

What power heads are you running?

Water is perfect but it's still not eating and it looks like the wound is getting bigger as if something is eating it at night.

If it's growing, that would mean it is infected. If so, will require antibiotic treatment in a hospital tank.
I can't tell on the size of the fish, but if it's small enough it may have tried to stick its mouth inside the end of the MP40 and got whacked on the head in the process.

+1 with maybe an acriflavine or methylene blue bath in transit if possible. I'd recommend kanaplex and/or Furan-2. Both would be best.

X2 I would source these immediately. Amazon if need be.
