Have some fish in Qt All eating well no real signs of anything besides MAYBE flukes on the moorish so to be safe I started doing prazi 4 days ago the following day I noticed black marks on the sailfin. I’ve read where this could be black ich. Looking for others opinions. Near the middle of his dorsal fun two or three of them.

been in prazi for 7 days the 2 black dots remain. Im not even sure if its black ich or just the way the fish is. anyone have any insight ? Ive heard the dots remain even after the worm falls off? I would assume there would be more than just two dots. @4FordFamily

There are two species of turbellarian flatworms which are known to parasitize marine fish: Paravortex sp. and Piscinquilinus subcutaneus. Paravortex are smaller and appear as grains of black spots rather than lumps. Piscinquilinus are relatively large and lie deep within the dermis. As a result, a pigmented dermis may show once killed, resulting in a black spot, regardless of a living parasite within the skin.

I’ve read all that big. Just looking for someone else opinion on my particular case. Thank you

More specific info: there are two parasites that can cause the black spot you are observing. The most common is the "Black Ich" of the turberllarians; a lessor common spot is called "Black Spot" and it is caused by the Digenean Trematode. The only way to know for sure which one caused the spots would be to do a scrape of the area and examine under a scope.

I believe it says to treat for 7 days and that will suffice as treatment. I guess I’m
Just super nervous cause I have a gem in my DT and I’m terrified to put anything in there and get him sick. I wish the black spots would go away before moving him over
