My sailfin tang all of a sudden is pale and breathing fast and bumping into the glass rock and substrate. Just yesterday the tang was eating and energetic. Normal as can be. I have no idea what’s going on

Is he new? Or has new livestock been introduced? Was he QT’ed?

symptoms all sound like Velvet.

do you have a QT to put him in? Is it a ROWLR or reef?

vedio will be needed to tell something. Tangs get ich, velvet and sometime hlle

Another possibility is flukes, especially with the scratching. FW dip followed by Prazi would be the treatment for that.

Without vedio we all can predict. Experts will also ask for vedio

It will be hard to assess your situation with out pics and video under white lighting. I will not possibilities without seeing first. I doubt velvet and other wild guesses as issue

Nothing so far has been a "wild guess" since everything suggested are common tang ailments, but @raging_bolts , we do need more info and photos/videos in order to assist.
(The best way to post a video is to upload to YouTube and post the link here)

It’s a reef tank with a couple corals. Had the fish for an about 2 months. Fine yesterday eating and active, but saw it like this this morning https://m.youtube.com/shorts/Q7yI5SiI9gM

We still need as much as you can provide below:

Aquarium Parameters:
Aquarium type: Reef, Fish-only, Quarantine tank
Aquarium water volume
Filtration type
Lighting
How long has the aquarium been established?
Digital image of the aquarium under white light

Water quality (be sure to indicate what measurement units you are using, as well as the test kit brand)
Temperature
pH:
Salinity / specific gravity
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrate
Phosphorus
Copper
Other

In-depth information:
Have you lost any fish to this problem yet? (see below)
Are any invertebrates affected?
Respiration rate of affected fish (in gill beats per minutes, count for 15 seconds and multiply by 4)
Are the affected fish still feeding?
What remedies have you tried so far?

I don’t see any spots.
Not swimming erratically.
Looks like a nip in top fin back.
Anyone attack him?
Will he feed?
The nip was on the fish when I got him. No one bullies him. He Wes feeding yesterday fine. But I tried a couple of pellets and wouldn’t go for it. I just put in seaweed chips and he seems to be eating now

Is he getting bullied?
What other fish do you have in there?
The nip was on the fish when I got him. No one bullies him. He Wes feeding yesterday fine. But I tried a couple of pellets and wouldn’t go for it. I just put in seaweed chips and he seems to be eating now. 2 clowns, fire goby and a snowflake eel

I see a bit of labored breathing but its hard to see the overall fish due to dots/film on the glass. Fish is a little under-weight. What foods are you feeding it ?
As this fish startles easily as you may have seen, I suspect a chance it ran into glass but mouth does not appear brusied and I dont think its an aggression issue as rear dorsal is healed from previous instance.
I also doubt velvet based on behavior.
Need a clearer video to see fish better but glass and camera lens need to be clean.
What is ammonia and salinity and how are you testing?

I feed daily. Pellets and seaweed. Ammonia is 0 and salinity 1.025. Eats more than the other fish. It has it cave it usually hides in. It could be that something spooked him while I was asleep. He started to regain his color
