I bought a sailfin tang yesterd1ay as a suprise for my girlfriend. It is being held for my at the lfs until i am done with transfer from my 55g to my 75g. I was wondering a couple of things. 1) with doing a transfer, would it be best to wait a few days after to add the tang or would i want to add him the same time as the rest of my fish for terrortorial resons. 2) my lfs is addvising me to buy a cleaner wrasse with the tang to help with it getting sick. I know that they get stressed easially, but is these absolutely nessaciary? Will it get along with my six line wrasse, if it is?

Moved from Data Base to current location, should get more looks here.

Your tank is a bit small for a sailfin tang. These fish get very big fairly quickly. In a small tank tangs will be stressed and more prone to disease. As far as a cleaner wrasse I would steer clear. They do not have a very good survival rate in aquariums. If you must add this fish a bit more info about your current stock list would help so others can see what you have and if everything is compatible. Sailfins are usually pretty peaceful with others with the exception of other Sailfins and similar tangs. I would recommend looking at something like one of the bristletooth tangs for a tank your size. Here's some info from live aquaria.

Thanks for the reply. I know the tank is probably as small of a tank i could have one in, and when he gets too big I plane to sell/ trade him, if i don't have a larger tank by then. As far as my stock list it is as follows:

2 - clowns
1 - yellow clown goby
1 - bi-colored blenny
1 - six line wrasse

No problem. With the list of fish you listed I personally don't see any issues as far as compatibility. If you can wait a bit after the transfer to add the sailfin I would. This is just to make the transition as easy as possible on your new fish. Best of luck

Do you think it will be okay for atleast 6 months to a year? Just out of curiosity. I don't know how fast they grow and I don't plan to get a larger tank for atleast three years.

I think what I will do is see how fast he grows. I will never keep a fish that is too large for the tank he is in. If that day comes I will find him a new home.
