I have had the 2 bristletooth tangs together for a while now and just wondering how an addition of a sailfin tang will go. It is bigger than the 2 bristletooth tangs.

BRS TV has a great guide for tangs and the rule of thumb on how to keep them together. Usually 2 unlike tangs fair okay in a tank but its never as easy as yes or no. Many factors go into that. Tank size, size of fish, amount of cover/hiding spots in tank, food available in tank/feeding patterns all play into aggression. As I recommended Youtube bulkreefsupplies there 52 FAQ has a video on keeping tangs. Overall the answer is yes just be cautious!

not playing Tang police here but the size of your tank may very well play into the ultimate outcome in this situation. My tanks a 220 and my desjardini showed aggression towards my kole tang (same family as the bristletooth) for the first few weeks and now they pal around the whole time. now that being said, i went against my better judgement and had the sailfin in there before adding the Kole so that could be a bigger part of it. Eventually, in your situation, the sailfin will most likely claim the territory. if he has enough space in the tank, it shouldn't be an issue. if space is lacking it may cause problems.

A lot of it depends on the individual fish. I added a Sailfin Tang to my tank and HE bullied my already established yellow tang for a couple weeks. It eventually stopped and they cohabit fairly well but, there is an occasional skirmish.

I have had mixed experiences with Sailfins. Two were quite mellow, one Sohal like in aggressiveness. Tank size plays a big factor because these tangs can get huge.
