Interesting couple of days. Realized my Dotty back is MIA and did some water tests for the first time in a while. Going to start researching the two part I acquired to see if I will go that route.

Found out I'm not fighting microbubbles, but instead kick up from the goby and the other inhabitants. So I'll start looking at some polishing options outside of the filter socks I have.

All in all, loving life. Working on a GIF of the tank and preparing for this weekend. I broke the new y for the lock line.. so back to the drawing board on that lol.

Thank you bud! I am really happy with it at this point. There are two things i need to do and several i want to knock out, but as soon as the need happens, i am kicking back for a while. I am thrilled with the look so far I need to fix the return line and get it split again as its pushing a lot of flow out of the one nozzle. I also need to do something about the water clarity, so i am probably going to build a simple scrubber to help get all of the free floating debris out. Other than that, its just under the stand organization which i am going to put off so i can just enjoy the view and ease of this build

Yeah, and of course my wife comes home from two months of being gone and says "where is my urchin and TCU fish?" um.. the urchin died shortly after the move, which i figured was a risk (still not happy but they like more nutrients than a new tank can provide) and he was just here two days ago.... Bummer, but now we are going to the not so local LFS tomorrow to see what they have

A buddy from work who lives about 15 minutes away. Its been fun to work on it, now i am just trying to get him on the forum LOL. So far he absolutely loves it. Bang for the buck is insane as it even comes with a drill bit! I have a single issue with it, which the in tank side is loose in the bulkhead. Doesnt effect performance, just annoys me more than it does him. He was stuck on the Synergy until i found that one on this forum somewhere. He is very happy he went with this one.

I am using the same on and highly recommend it. I wouldn't use all three gaskets though. I found it made the whole thing impossible to get tight.

It may have been your build i saw it on then LOL. It is awesome for sure. We got it tight and leak free, only issue is that red oring on the inside part doesnt slip tight against the bulkhead, however, it works so thats all that matters.

Another interesting set of days. Turns out the Dotty did in fact cross the rainbow bridge. Found it's spine in the tank today while removing coral. Shame for many reasons, one of which is k have no idea what caused it.

Also pulled the last of the rocks and coral out to get into my buddies (my "old" 75) and am ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow we raise the zoa mountain and add more rock while rescaping the tank. After this, there will be a zero mess with policy out into place.

Sad to see so much go, but happy to see the new opportunities and room for the corals I really want.

The first four photos are of my tank before I took everything out and the 5th is his work on the 75. He did amazing.

Now to start dreaming of the new scape and where I will locate all my corals, mostly away from that darn goby!

I came home today and did the basics on the tank, scrubbed the glass and fed my fish. After that I changed the filter sock. The next step? Well, that involved some scotch and my best little bud. It's nice to finally do this.

So i just won a new MP pump and have a question for yall...

If you had two MP10's and one MP40, would you use all three, sell one of the MP10's and use the other in combo with the 40, or sell both MP10's and buy another MP40?

Well, I debated when to post this. Guess now is just as good as any as other time. I am most likely going to wait to post until after the recovery.

I lost my dotty back who was vibrant purple and eating, then gone. I didnt think much of it. I got a yellow tang over a month ago and it never really looked 100% but i didnt think much of it. As you saw in my earlier post, i scaped my tank after pulling out a bunch of rock to finally finish the two tank build that has been going on for a while now. The next day the yellow tang was dead. I pulled it before anything had a chance to take a bite. Not knowing what was going on, i tested the water and came back with the usual 79.5, 1.024, 0,0,.25 (phos), 8.4 and added in some Nori. Since this weekend, i have added Chaeto and snails and that was it. Everyone looked/looks healthy, but the tang just looked thin and slightly colorless. Even dead, it was pale yellow and thin. Everyone else looked normal.

Last night when i got home, i came home to this. Fortunately it is only on two fish and everyone is swimming and eating like normal. But that said, i am pretty sure its velvet.

I turned off the lights to reduce stress and most likey will do a WC tonight. That said i am not pulling them out or going Fallow so we will see how they do.

Treating currently recommends pulling all the fish out and putting in a copper tank. With every disruption causes more stress.

The infection set in over night on two of the fish. Pulling them would have been certain death. One did die from the infection and the other is still swimming and eating while looking better every day. All others still show no sign.

How many hospital tanks setup after an infection had 100% success? None that I have seen. So far, I have lost one for sure from velvet and he was my first clown ever, so close to 8yrs old in my system (maybe older) and who knows how old he was in totality? The yellow Tang never looked 100% but he lives over two months after a very stressful move.

The sailfin that is infected has already been severely scared from HLLE from a stray heater and is still holding out.

Because of my rockwork, I would have to pull nearly all of it to get the rest out and who knows how much ammonia and stress that would cause?

We typically react in large swings to try to save our fish and only reach some success. I am trying the method of reducing stress and allowing their natural immune systems to work. Will it? Not sure. Will a hospital tank have more success? Also not sure and historically the losses still take place.

Since cutting my lights and feeding plenty of mixed foods with garlic and vitamins, the infection appears to have slowed and the water has been stable.

Solid reasoning. I have been through it and hope I never have to face a DT with an outbreak again. Gah! It is horrid!
