Is this the correct method to use these test kits?. More interested to hear if everyone uses the solution line at .85/ when the plunger is at 1.0?
 
I've never heard that before and I use Salifert test kits a lot! IMHO he's half right and half wrong. He's right that you will indeed get an air gap. But he is wrong about "it has to be at 8.5". Just know that in the end you will look at the end of the plunger for your reading and not where the fluid level is.

Ya i guess it would make no difference in how much of an "air gap" you have as long as you dont run out of fluid, and as you said, are reading from the plunger not the solution line.
