So, I've been using the Salifert kit to test alkalinity, and I have a question. The instructions say to add the solution drop-by-drop from the syringe until the mixture in the vial turns either to a pink or an orange color, whichever comes first. In my experience, when I get right to the color change threshold the solution first turns a dark purple, and then a final drop or two changes that to pink. For accuracy, should I be adding that final drop to get the pink color, or should I be taking my reading as soon as the vial turns purple?

I get it all the way to pink. I think being consistent on the shade you choose to go to is more important that exactly which shade you choose.
